#BoycottHaider. read full text of Vishal Bhardwaj’s letter urging Indians to vote for Congress

Dear Fellow-Indians,

The best thing about our country is its cultural diversity, its pluralism – the co-existence of a number of religions and ethnicities over centuries, and hence the blooming of multiple streams of intellectual and artistic thought. And, this has been possible only because Indian society has prided itself on being essentially secular in character, rejecting communal hatred, embracing tolerance.

Today, that very sense of India is vulnerable. The need of the hour is to protect our country’s secular foundation. Undoubtedly, corruption and governance are important issues, but we will have to vigilantly work out ways of holding our government accountable to that. However, one thing is clear: India’s secular character is not negotiable! Not now, not ever.

As Indian citizens who love our motherland, we appeal to you to vote for the secular party, which is most likely to win in your constituency.
Jai Hind!

Yours

  1. What an utter pile of ‘hosanga’!!

Congress — and ‘nationalist’? Total dichotomy there!

  2. What BJP govt does, if they cant get rid of corrupt people from censor board? What censor board is for?

  3. @CK Sharma, more like an oxymoron.

  4. Most of the signatories are either associated with satyamave jayate or films in which Aamir khan has acted.

  5. seculars proved themselves many times as anti-nationals

  6. Which part of this letter urges people to vote for Congress? The way Modi is handling the country, and the way the govt is working for everyone, BJP has proved itself to be a secular party, much much better than the Congress Party which was only a divisive party, not secular.

The Congress Party has proved itself to be anti-national and entirely self-centered. No one in their right mind will think that the Congress people valued their motherland. They were busy filling up their own coffers and their Queen Bee’s treasury.

The patriotic fervour, morale and national pride in Indians has only increased ever since Modi became PM.

So, as far as my interpretation goes, this letter by Vishal Bharadwaj is actually asking all Indians to vote for BJP.

  7. The way our PM is handling the country,I have my doubts if Congress will ever be required in future to run the affairs of the country. We as Indians are now feeling proud for the first time and all this thanks to Narendra Modiji.

  8. Modi wave inundates all sections of the society across the nation. It wont be too long before the awakening of the masses will wipe off the existence of those who have looted this nation for ages. India surely remains safe with MODIfied governance like the present one.

  9. Thank you

  11. In the same way One has to write an open letter to movie goers-Boycott movie ‘Haider’.Why? As reported, the movie is on the ground of Kashmir background. Where blanket is kept on condition’s of Kashmiri Pandit. And Indian army is shown in bad light.

  12. Vote to Khangress! Never. Looters of Indian assets.

  13. Kuldeep Sehdev

All the signatories are so called EMINENT ARTISTS with proven treacherous character/background. Male signatories are the ones who lick Dawoods ass as per his wishes,Ever ready to do anything against our country just to satisfy their Hunger for money. The Female ones are regular Bed warming Bitches of Dawood & Co. Time has come to make them pay through their nose for their Anti National Sins.

  14. The psuedo intellctuals are there yet again. Atleast seeing is believing is to be made known to these people. What did we achieve in the last 60 years after independence except for highest corruption, no accountability, no respect in the international community, napotism, reservations, making Pakistan more and more stronger, no competitive athletes to get medals bou only Suresh Kalmadis. These people want India to be taken over by Muslim hardcores and be converted permanently into low lying muhajirs. If you want turn around, go through the hard grind and only people like Narendra Modi can lead our country back to greatness. If you can wait, you please wait and see and if you can’t, get out of this country. One so called intellectual from Bangalore – Ananthmurthy said he does not want to live in India where Modi is the PM and rightly so, nature has shown the vent. When mother nature is backing up Modi, please wake up fellow Indians. Secularism does not mean pleasing the muslim community alone.

  15. Every party here is opportunist. We can’t find any true secular party in India. They just look on the winnability factor for deciding candidates and alliances. So, people will be voting for the one which they feel best among them. We need to eradicate poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and ensure good life for human beings in India. Who ever does that should be supported.
Politics of hatred can’t succeed. We should take along everyone without considering his race. Intellectuals here may not be running for food, shelter and clothing. The poor needs that and for them corruption and lack of necessary facilities are the major problems. Religion won’t give food for them. Upliftment of the poor should be the priority and people mainly vote for development oriented constructive government.
